Wild Ivory is based in the big 5 Welgevonden Game Reserve which forms part of the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve. To ensure best possible game viewing opportunities we use open top 4×4 game viewing vehicles which are driven by experienced game rangers. The rangers are very familiar with the reserve and the movements of the animals within the reserve. Welgevonden is an open system and the wildlife move freely throughout the park so there is no guarantee to see all species but the parks offers some of the best viewing in South Africa and each drive offers a unique experience where a number of birds, animals and other species will be seen along with some spectacular scenery. Guests staying at the lodge will be unlucky not to see at least three of the big 5 and many other species. Due to the protection offered in the reserve to the animals most species are comfortable with the vehicles and close sightings are regular which will allow for some excellent photographic opportunities.
